Oberwerth Signature Bag L - Field report
The OberwerthLittle William is clearly positioned as The SL Bag® Medium in the area of larger mirrorless full-frame setups. That's exactly where I used it - with a realistic, sometimes very lavish mix of equipment. The pictures clearly show that this is not about minimalism, but about transportation, protection and structure.
The bag was made available to me by Oberwerth.
There were no specifications, no acceptance and no payment.
I am completely free in my report.

Space - plenty of storage space for large systems
What is immediately noticeable is that the Little William is very spacious.
It is almost ideal for my Leica SL setup - even with large AF lenses.
Even a Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 (long, heavy, anything but compact) can be accommodated without any problems. This is not a matter of course and can be clearly seen in the pictures.
Realistically possible setups:
SL with camera + 2-3 medium-sized zooms plus accessories
(weight is then of course an issue - space is not)
SL + M + Q, each with lens, plus accessories
Alternatively: SL with zoom (e.g. 24-70mm f/2.8) + other fixed focal lengths
The box shape ensures that the volume is really usable - nothing is tapered or impractically wasted.
Interior & organization - functionally well thought out
The two dividers with flaps allow very flexible partitioning. They provide reliable protection and keep the setup stable - even when walking or setting down.
The red inner lining is not just a matter of taste, but also extremely useful from a functional point of view: black equipment stands out clearly and you can find everything more quickly. This is a real advantage, especially when there is a lot of content.
A very good solution:
Two inner compartments
→ The rear, body-hugging compartment is padded and easily accommodates an 11" iPad (clearly visible in the detailed pictures).
Inner side pocket - my personal highlight
→ Surprisingly much space, ideal for an iPhone Pro Max, for example. I don't know exactly why I like this compartment so much - but I like it a lot.
Hidden compartment for AirTag
→ Discreetly integrated, typical Oberwerth detail.
Front and rear - storage space that can really be used
The two front pockets are pleasantly large and not just token compartments.
They are easy to store:
batteries
small table tripod
Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Kit
keys
narrow glasses case
Other accessories
On the back:
Zippered document compartment (ideal for travel documents)
Trolley strap with Velcro fastener
For me, the latter is almost indispensable for bags of this size. The Velcro fastener has advantages and disadvantages - it would be cleaner without it, but more flexible with it. For me, the benefits clearly outweigh the disadvantages when traveling.
Wearing comfort & handling
The shoulder strap is very comfortable and can also be easily adjusted for tall, strong people. The weight is distributed comfortably - even when the bag is full.
What I would like to see:
an additional handle for short distances
a detachable shoulder strap
The optional strap helps here, but comes at an additional cost.
Material & workmanship - typical Oberwerth
The leather quality is a real hand flatterer.
It is simply a pleasure to touch the leather - soft, valuable, high-quality.
There is a choice:
Casual or Hydro leather
Black (899 €) or Reporter Green (999 €)
The workmanship is excellent throughout: clean seams, high-quality fittings, harmonious details. The bag looks very chic without being obtrusive - a camera bag that can also be carried outside of photography.
The box shape is a little bulky here and there - that's true.
At the same time, this is its great advantage: very good protection and a shape that will retain its structure for many years.
In heavy rain, the protection is naturally limited (leather remains leather), but it is absolutely sufficient for everyday life and travel.
The LOXX fasteners take a little getting used to at first, but quickly prove to be very secure and trustworthy.
Conclusion
The Oberwerth Little William is a very high-quality, elegant camera bag with plenty of space, well thought-out organization and excellent workmanship.
The price is clearly in the luxury segment - but you get:
high-quality materials
plenty of protection and structure
a timeless design
a lifetime guarantee
and a team in the background that will take care of you if something should really go wrong
Bottom line:
An excellent bag at a corresponding price.
Not for minimalists - but ideal for anyone who wants to transport their extensive equipment in a stylish, safe and organized way.
